Porcinis

Porcinis
84 Liverpool Rd, Longton, Preston PR4 5NB01772 619555
For an Italian restaurant located 20 minutes from were live, I have not been to Porcinis very often. However I would certainly go again. Located in the centre of the village of Longton opposite a fantastic charity shop and across from an old Church Porcinis is set in a very pleasant location and the inside is just as nice. The restaurant is open and clearly decorated with white walls, however adorning the walls are interesting Italian carvings and metal work. The kitchens can be seen from nearly every table and when I went on Valentines Day they had tastefully place red balloons on some tables.

Now the important part, the food. I started with Antipasto which was generous in its portion. There least three large size slices of six types of Italian meat, a large doze of olives and pertly of quality mozzarella. It was served with soft crusty white bread. I followed this starter with of course a pizza, Pizza Speck. This Pizza was quite possibly one of the best I have ever had. The base was thin and crispy but also retained some soft doughy nature, the tomato sauce was just the right quantity and was rich and favoursum perfectly complementing the other toppings and the was not fault with the mozzarella. Pizza Speck is also topped with gorgonzola, rocket? and thin Italian ham. The gorgonzola was tasty, not too over powering but also covering the pizza well. The Italian ham covered the entire pizza, was very thin and again just the right quantity and beneath the ham was a layer of fresh rocket.
The service was friendly and quick, although the prices are slightly steeper than other Italians nearby. Despite the slight increase in price, I believe Porcinis is well worth the value and I would defiantly recommend it.
